Priorities for LISD

Transformative Education for Each and Every Student.

Personalize Student Experiences.

Develop personalized learning plans for every student, focusing on their strengths, needs, skills, and interests.

  • Leverage technology to increase access and personalization

  • Increase exposure and participation in desired programs (eg. choice, advanced, fine arts, athletics, and CTE courses)

  • Explore district-level courses for select programs/pathways

Engage Families and Build Community

Collaborate with parents, caretakers, families, and the broader community to foster the learning, development, and health of students.

  • Grow participation in current programs such as Parents as Teachers, Young Parent Services, and Autism: Parent Education

  • Expand resources and programs for middle and high school parents to support academic and social-emotional success

  • Magnify representation and participation in community engagement activities (e.g. Legacy programs, volunteering and mentoring, surveys, advisory and site-based committees)

Enable Educators.

Explore creative solutions to recruit, retain, reward, and develop professional educators and staff.

  • Continued investment in developing talent (eg. teacher and leadership development programs)

  • Deploy thoughtful staffing mix at local schools and central office

  • Leverage technology to help educators build personalized learning experiences and recommend aligned programs

Optimize School Finances

Ensure sound financial management through diligent budget oversight, fiscal responsibility, and advocacy for increased Texas school funding.

  • Uphold LISD’s commitment to integrity, prudent stewardship, planning, accountability, transparency, and open communication

  • Structure M&O and I&S to ensure we can fund the strategic plan, service our debt, and issue new bonds if needed

  • Advocate for state-level increases to school funding (eg. enrollment-based allotments, auto inflation adjustments; increases to basic and special education allotments)
